Reader Reviews for The Fix
The Fix by Jeff Schneider takes the reader on an insiders tour into the
dark underworld of big-time college athletics. What a book! I could not
put it down. Set in the heart of basketball country, Louisville, KY, the
book follows the prospects of Catholic U and its star player, Mike
Kramer on their quest for an NCAA National Championship. If only it were
that simple. With ratings low and advertising slipping, the major
broadcast network with rights to the NCAA tournament takes matters into
its own hands with the help of the mob, makes sure that certain teams
win and certain teams lose. Needless to say this book reminded me of
John Grisham's The Firm. I found The Fix better however. Intrigue and
suspense describe this novel and with Schneider's eloquent and
descriptive writing, the novel moves along very quickly. I had the
fortunate opportunity to play Division 1 basketball for Penn State and I
can tell you that no book I have ever written comes close to capturing
the pressure and intensity of big time college basketball like this
novel. I can't wait for the sequel!

The Fix is the best sports story I've ever read, and when they make the
movie it will be better than Hoosiers. The book goes into the darker
edges of the college basketball scene, often reminding me of THE
GODFATHER and GOODFELLOWS. Thoroughly enjoyed his plot and characters,
none of them unbelievable and all of them really alive....

Best novel of sports fiction I've ever seen. Not only do you go inside
college basketball, but you also see the torcher a young man lives as he
tries to navigate through the problems of life. This was an excellent
read. The mob tries to fix the Final Four, and Mike Kramer, the lead
character, is there to stop them!

Reader Reviews for The Games
I read The Fix, Schneider's first book, and I am truly stunned how good The Games is. This guy is for real. The Games might be the most creative story I've seen. The Russians no longer a power comes to steal the human cloning theory during the Olympics in Utah. Where does he get these great stories? And his cast of characters reminds me of something Clancy would write. I heard The Fix was going to be made into a movie. Well, so will The Games. I think it's even better! Schneider gets a standing ovation for thinking up this wonderful book.

Unlike some of the other books I've read lately, Mr. Jeff Schneider knows how to get the reader's attention: a mad scientist discovers the human cloning secret and Russia is out to steal it to once again be a world power! Magnificent creative idea, something Grisham and King and Cricton have all lost in their latest drivel. It goes to show that there is always someone out there who can turn up the heat, and Schneider does exactly that in The Games. World-class read, and one I think women will love to death. Simply marvelous story.

What a perfect story for young girls to read. Dee Dee Daniels overcomes all the odds and her own self doubts to achieve her dreams. But she doesn't count on all the obstacles thrown at her during this page-turner, one that should go down as one of the best of the year.
Schneider brilliantly weaves his plot to a dramatic climax, not unlike his first novel, The Fix. If there's one problem I see--it's that I'm now finished with it. This was excellent.
